RateX support
RateX is dedicated to helping tradespeople know their floor rate and price every job with confidence.
Getting Started
How do I set my floor rate?
On first launch, answer the three Quick Start questions (take-home target, days on the tools, running costs) — your floor rate appears and updates live as you answer. You can refine every assumption behind it later in Settings → Your Numbers.
What is a "floor rate"?
The least you can charge per hour and still cover your costs — your overheads, your target take-home, and whatever you set aside for tax. It's not a target or a recommendation, it's a breakeven line. RateX never tells you what to charge above it.
Does RateX calculate my tax?
No — deliberately. You tell RateX what percentage you personally set aside, and that's the only number it uses. RateX never files anything, never talks to a tax authority, and never claims to know your actual tax liability. For that, talk to an accountant.
Debriefing Jobs
How do I debrief a job?
Tap "Debrief a job" from the Today tab or the Jobs tab. Enter what you charged, what it cost you (materials, fuel, etc.), and every hour it took — including quoting, driving, and merchant runs. RateX shows your true earned rate for that job in about 60 seconds.
Why isn't a below-floor job shown in red, or flagged as a failure?
On purpose. Most jobs land close to the floor, and a red "failed" indicator on nearly every row isn't useful — it's just noise, or worse, discouraging. RateX shows a below-floor result as a plain fact (a dimmer number, a stated amount), never an alert. What you do with that fact is your call.
How do I get a job back after deleting it?
Jobs → the trash icon in the top corner → Recently Deleted. Deleted jobs are recoverable for 30 days, then removed for good.
Can I duplicate a job I do often?
Yes — swipe left on a job in your Jobs list, or use the "…" menu on a job's detail screen, and choose Duplicate. It carries over the costs and hours, but leaves the date and amount charged blank, since those are usually what's different each time.
Subscription
I bought RateX on another device — how do I get it back?
Settings → Restore purchase. This works with the same Apple ID you originally purchased with.
How do I cancel my subscription?
RateX subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple, the same as any other App Store subscription: Settings app → your name → Subscriptions, on the device you subscribed from.
Your Data
Is my data backed up, or synced across my devices?
Not automatically, today. Your rate profile and job history live only on the device you're using. If you want a backup, or you're moving to a new phone, go to Settings → Export your data — it generates a CSV of every job and your rate settings that you can save, email to yourself, or store wherever you'd like. Automatic multi-device sync is on the roadmap but isn't built yet.
Where does my data actually live?
On your device only. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail — the short version is that RateX has no server, so there's nowhere else for it to be.
