RateBook privacy policy

Summary

RateBook doesn't collect your data. There's no RateBook server for it to go to. Everything you enter - your floor rate, your jobs, your costs - stays on your phone, encrypted the same way as the rest of your device, unless you personally choose to send it somewhere. This page explains that in full, so there's nothing to take on trust.

What RateBook Stores, and Where

Your rate profile and job history are stored locally on your device, using Apple's on-device data framework (SwiftData). RateBook has no backend, no database, and no way to see this information - because it never leaves your phone in the first place.

If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. Jobs you delete inside the app are kept for 30 days in a "Recently Deleted" list so you can undo a mistake, then removed automatically - this, too, happens entirely on your device.

The Only Two Things That Ever Leave Your Phone

• Subscription purchases. RateBook Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple's App Store. Payment and subscription status are handled entirely by Apple, using Apple's own StoreKit - RateBook never sees your card details. There is no third-party purchase or analytics service involved, and no server operated by RateBook: whether your subscription is active is read directly from Apple on your own device. Nothing about a purchase is sent anywhere else.
• Anything you choose to export or share. RateBook lets you export your jobs and rate settings as a CSV file or a formatted PDF report, and share cards showing your floor rate or a job's result. Each of these is an action you take deliberately, using Apple's standard share sheet - the file or image goes exactly where you send it (Files, Mail, AirDrop, a messaging app), and RateBook has no visibility into or involvement in that destination.

What RateBook Does Not Do

• No account or sign-in - there is nothing to register, so there is no account data to hold
• No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising SDKs, no tracking of any kind
• No third-party SDKs of any sort - RateBook is built entirely on Apple's own frameworks
• No access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or photo library
• No data sold or shared with anyone, for any reason

Siri and the Shortcuts App

RateBook offers one App Shortcut - "Debrief a job" - so the action is reachable from Siri, Spotlight, the Shortcuts app and the Action Button. Running it only opens RateBook on the debrief screen. It sends nothing anywhere, and it carries none of your job or rate data with it.

Notifications

RateBook can send one optional local reminder a month ("your Month Mirror is ready"). It's scheduled entirely on your device by iOS itself - nothing about it is sent anywhere, and it's off by default until you turn it on in Settings.

Children's Privacy

RateBook is a business tool for tradespeople and isn't directed at children. Since RateBook doesn't collect data from anyone, this is true regardless of a user's age.

Your Rights

Because RateBook holds no data about you outside your own device, there is nothing on a server to request, correct, export, or delete on your behalf - you already have complete, direct control over all of it, at all times, through the app itself (including the built-in export feature above).

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will update. Continued use of RateBook after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
